DRAGON BALL
Dragon Ball Super Manga Enters Hiatus for Next Arc Preparation

Shueisha's V Jump magazine announced that Toyotarō's Dragon Ball Super manga will go on hiatus from the next issue in April. The manga, which started its "Super Hero" arc in March 2023, diverges from the anime adaptation. Viz Media will release the 21st compiled volume on May 14, with the 23rd volume set for publication on April 4.

Japan's Animate Ikebukuro Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Anime Store

Japan's Animate Ltd. achieved a Guinness World Record for the largest anime shop/store at their Ikebukuro location. The record was confirmed on March 17, with a ceremonial event featuring voice actor Shōta Aoi and other notable figures. This milestone coincides with Animate Ikebukuro's one-year renewal anniversary, marking a significant achievement for the brand. The ceremony was also streamed on the official Animate Times YouTube channel.

ONE PIECE
Eiichiro Oda's One Piece Manga Hiatus Announcement

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, announced a three-week hiatus for the manga starting with the 18th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on April 1. The manga will resume in the 21st issue on April 22, with the 17th issue still releasing next Monday. In a handwritten statement, Oda reassured fans that his break is not due to health issues but rather a form of scheduled maintenance. He expressed a need to contemplate the essence of "what the ONE PIECE actually is" during this time.

BEYBLADE X
Beyblade X Anime and Toy Line Launch

ADK Emotions NY Inc. and Tomy Company, Ltd. subsidiary T-Licensing Inc. revealed that the global premiere of the Beyblade X anime is set for summer. Alongside this, a trailer was shared. Additionally, the Beyblade X toy line is scheduled to debut this summer. The anime initially aired in Japan on TV Tokyo on October 6, featuring Sōma Saitō as X Kurosu, Shūichirō Umeda as Bird Kazami, and Ruriko Noguchi as Multi Nanairo.

MAPPA
Mappa releases full version of the Sukuna vs Mahoraga in JJK S2

MAPPA released the completed Sukuna vs. Mahoraga fight in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 alongside the "Shibuya Arc" Blu-ray Volumes 4 and 5 on Mar. 20, 2024. Notably, the enhanced "Thunderclap, Part 2" episode (Season 2, Episode 17) featured extra footage that amazed fans, earning it praise as one of the best-animated sequences ever.

FRIEREN
Frieren overtakes Fullmetal Alchemist as the 1st Anime on various Anime sites.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End has recently surpassed Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as the top anime on popular ranking sites like ANN Encyclopedia and MyAnimeList. Frieren, with its captivating fantasy world and immortal protagonist, captivated audiences in Fall 2023. Meanwhile, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, a faithful adaptation of the manga, has remained a timeless classic since its premiere in 2009.

DRAGON BALL
Saudi Arabia to Build Dragon Ball Theme Park

Saudi Arabia's Qiddiya Investment Company announced plans to construct the world's first-ever Dragon Ball theme park as part of the "Qiddiya" giga project. The park will span 500,000 square meters and feature seven distinct areas recreating iconic locales from the anime series, including Kame House, Capsule Corporation, and Beerus' Planet. The park will include a 70-meter-high Shenron roller coaster and themed hotels and restaurants.

MAPPA
GKIDS Secures Distribution Rights for Mamoru Hosoda's Films

The new original television anime ZENSHU, produced by MAPPA, follows the story of a director who struggles working on a romantic comedy anime. The script for the anime is written by Kimiko Ueno. The anime is about a director who has never experienced love herself, causing her to struggle with the concept of first love and affecting her next project.

Wright Film released a teaser for the anime adaptation of Jirō Sugiura's manga. At AnimeJapan, the TMS/Sega booth will feature an interactive Mina avatar and the first Mina figure. Attendees can join talk events with the cast and get exclusive merchandise at select booths. Read more

YOZAKURA FAMILY
Disney to Stream Mission: Yozakura Family Anime

Disney announced that the anime adaptation of Hitsuji Gondaira's Mission: Yozakura Family manga will be available with subtitles starting on April 7. The series, labeled as a "Hulu Original" in the U.S, will debut in Japan on the same day, airing on MBS, TBS, and their affiliate channels. And, it will be streamed on Prime Video and Netflix in Japan.

Netflix Original Anime: The Grimm Variations Release Announcement

Netflix announced the streaming debut of "The Grimm Variations," an original anime series based on Grimm's Fairy Tales, starting on April 17. Kengan Ashura Anime S2 P2: Netflix Premiere

The second part of Kengan Ashura's anime season will debut on Netflix in August, featuring the tournament finals and concluding the original story. The website released a teaser trailer and artwork by Daromeon. The first part premiered on September 21 after an early screening in Tokyo on September 10.

Medalist Olympic ice-skating manga gets a Anime Adaptation.

Kadokawa released the first promotional video on Friday for the anime adaptation of Tsurumaikada's Medalist Olympic ice-skating manga. The announcement included 2 new cast members, additional staff, and confirmed the show's premiere in January 2025 on TV Asahi's NUMAnimation programming block. Read more

Afro's Mono Manga Adapted into TV Anime

The second part of Kengan Ashura's anA new website and Twitter account announced Afro's mono 4-panel manga is becoming a TV anime. The site revealed key details and a 360° video. Ryota Aikei directs, Takuya Miyahara designs characters, and Yoko Yonaiyama writes the script. Aniplex is producing the anime.
