Amazon and Toei Collaborate on Oshi no Ko Live-Action Film and Series

Amazon and Toei collaborate on a live-action film and TV series based on Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's 'Oshi no Ko' manga. Toei will handle the theatrical release, while the series will exclusively stream on Amazon Prime Video worldwide in winter 2024. The cast includes former =LOVE member Nagisa Saitō, former Nogizaka46 member Asuka Saitō, Kaito Sakurai, Nanoka Hara, Mizuki Kayashima, and ano. The successful anime adaptation's second season is set to air this year.

The official website for the anime 'Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation' announced that Kazuya Nakai is narrating the anime and voicing the character Dragon. The surprise reveal coincides with the anime's premiere date on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Adapted from Eiichiro Oda's one-shot manga, the series follows the story of the Samurai Ryuma in a world threatened by dragons. Directed by Sunghoo Park, the anime features Yoshimasa Hosoya, Kana Hanazawa, and Hiroki Tōchi in the cast. Nakai's narration adds an exciting element to this legendary tale.

SWORD ART ONLINE
Sword Art Online Franchise Unveils New Movie Project in Production

Following the terrestrial broadcast of Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night, the official Twitter account announced a new theatrical anime in production. The Sword Art Online franchise, originating from Reki Kawahara's light novel series in 2009, has had various adaptations, including TV anime, movies, and light novels. The latest TV series installment, Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld: Part II, aired in the summer of 2020. The new movie project was first announced in 2022, and further details are awaited.

The Rising of The Shield Hero Anime Confirms Fourth Season

Kadokawa has officially green-lit the fourth season of 'The Rising of The Shield Hero' anime. While details on returning cast and staff members are yet to be revealed, director Hitoshi Haga and key cast members expressed excitement about the news. The anime, which began in January 2019, gained popularity and saw its second season premiere in April 2022, with a third season following in October. 'The Rising of The Shield Hero' follows Naofumi Iwatani's journey as the Shield Hero, tasked with saving a parallel universe from prophesied destruction."

Kyoto Animation Arsonist: a Tragic Incident

A Japanese man responsible for a deadly arson attack on Kyoto Animation in 2019 has been sentenced to death. Shinji Aoba, 45, set fire to the anime studio, killing 36 people and injuring over 30. The judge described the act as "cruel and inhumane." Aoba accused the studio of stealing his ideas, a claim denied by Kyoto Animation. Polls show public support for capital punishment in Japan. The company, known as KyoAni, is renowned for anime series like "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" and "K-ON!" The verdict was welcomed by the company's president, Hideaki Hatta, who expressed deep sorrow for the employees lost in the tragedy.

JUJUTSU KAISEN
Jujutsu Kaisen x CASETiFY: Exclusive Tech Accessories

CASETiFY has unveiled its official collaboration with the popular Jujutsu Kaisen anime, offering limited-edition tech accessories. The collection, available for iPhones, Samsung, and Google Pixel devices, showcases characters like Yuji Itadori and Satoru Gojo. Priced from $42, the range includes items for phones, tablets, AirPods, and more. The Thermal Interactive Case changes color with body heat, emitting cursed energy. Following successful collaborations with Naruto, One Piece, and Sailor Moon, CASETiFY's Jujutsu Kaisen collection launches on Jan. 31, with life-sized accessories featured at the Hong Kong launch event.

SLAM DUNK
Slam Dunk: Record-Breaking Box Office and Global Acclaim

Takehiko Inoue's "The First Slam Dunk" anime film grossed ¥130 million (about $881,569) in one-day revival screenings in Japan. The film has sold 10.95 million tickets, earning ¥15.8 billion (about $107.14 million), making it the 13th highest-grossing film in Japan. It surpassed Hayao Miyazaki's "Ponyo" and is the 7th highest-grossing anime film. Released in December 2022, it ranked #1 in its opening weekend, selling 847,000 tickets. By June 2023, it earned ¥14.43 billion. GKIDS released it in the U.S. and Canada in July, grossing $662,211 in the first weekend. The film won Animation of the Year at the Japan Academy Film Prizes and received nominations at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the Oscars in 2024. Inoue directed the film at Toei Animation, and it was well-received globally.
